Sooo maybe this is my type b personality coming out to shine, but i have adopted a new habit called invite first, plan later<\/em>. So much of the battle is just the thing you put off over and over again, so to combat that, you make the first move and you stick to it. You tell people dinner is happening, and then you figure out dinner. Believe me, I am the queen of doing too much. Why do I feel the need to completely create a new lampshade from scratch instead of just vacuuming the floor when people are coming over in 15 minutes? I. don\u2019t. know. Probably because i\u2019m insane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But do it\u2014send the invite. It\u2019s so worth it. We are meant to be connected to people. We are meant to know the lives of the people we surround ourselves with. When guests arrive, have something laid out for them to nibble on. This takes away any prior stress about getting the meal done at the perfect second\u2014so guests aren\u2019t waiting around, but the food also doesn\u2019t get cold. It also gives you space to finish final touches on the meal while still being present, talking, and doing something with your hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It also gives you the opportunity to give guests something to do if things feel a little awkward or you need help with small things. Once everything is ready, you can either plate the meal or let guests serve themselves. Bring the appetizer section into the meal, allowing people to take what they want or skip what they don\u2019t.
